Exhausted from fighting!
You have a condition, a label, a diagnosis. We will give it a name for the purpose of a little fun and so I can write a bit for everyone.
BITR (short for “bump in the road”) has taken over your life, or is attempting to. BITR may have turned your life inside out AND upside down or maybe you know someone who has a BITR and it is affecting your life, so you are being dragged into the BITR syndrome.
How dare this happen to you or them, you may be tempted to say! Are you hurting so bad you just want to get off the bus, to stop the world, to roll over in bed and not get up, or maybe you cannot even get up.
Maybe you feel that this is going to be your lot for the rest of your life, or their life. Maybe you have been a little journey with your BITR, and for a while you chose to ignore it, what some would call denial, and yet that did not work, because every time you turned round, there was BITR! Have the fears and anxieties started to plague you, to add to the pain you feel? Are you feeling uncertain that you will ever be any different?
What have you done? Looked at eating habits, exercise, calming the mind by listening to relaxation music, or listening to short guided meditations. Have you researched all you can, to get as boarder picture as you can? Looked at all the ins and outs others have experienced, knowing that what you know and read is THEIR story and need not be yours.
Have you launched an arsenal, one thing or lots of things that might be the secret weapon that will annihilate your condition, or that of your loved one? Maybe you have tried many things, and none really seem to be doing the job. Maybe it seems that things have got worse, much worse.
Our personal BITR is more than just physical pain. It evokes many emotions that we are really uncomfortable with, it evokes mental and emotional pain, and sometimes this pain is worse than the physical pain. It can bring despair and depression as quickly as a winter storm, much colder too. It can leave us feeling useless, pathetic even, like we have lost who we are, and that brings grief for not only losing our sense of worth, but all that we used to be able to do, for lost dreams and hopes.
Did you know you use enormous amounts of energy fighting, fighting your BITR? You become mentally, physically and emotionally drained and weary. You have no reserves for healing, for looking at things with a different perspective, for seeing alternatives, opportunities, for hearing encouragement, support and help. No energy for feeling any different than in pain, despair, blah and like giving up.
There are many ways you can enhance life. I have some wonderful clients, clients who have been at the end of their brick with their personal BITR, and have not even been able to see a life buoy, let alone a lifeline. They have reached out in their desperation, fear and despair, and together we have found some things that have enhanced their lives, turned on the light in their darkness, the life in their dis-ease. They become more aware of their bodies, of the things that trigger them, that cause them to feel uncomfortable. They become more in-tune and realise that all these things are just guiding posts to help them to heal.
It is wonderful to see their focus turn to all the things they can do to become well, happier, more able. We focus on enhancing their health, on their potential, rather than fighting or destroying their condition. Knowing that many have turned around their lives to uncover their awesomeness and potential so simply, is something that inspires me to continue my work.
Many of you will probably have had someone in your life at some stage that has been spiteful, nasty and unbearable. These people can be like a BITR and can be exhausting too. If you are like me, these people usually change their tactics very quickly if we smile at them when we see them, when we are pleasant to them, even kind. They cannot handle it & move on to trouble those who will react, get fired up or upset.
In some ways our BITR’s (bump in the road) are like this – and because they are a part of us, if we are trying to destroy our condition we are actually trying to destroy or annihilate part of us, to kill part of our self. Kind of sad really when we really actually stop to think about it. And I am guilty of this in my past, however I feel so glad that I have learnt how different it can be to learn to love my body, my pain, the parts I would rather not have, situations and circumstances in my life.
We are inundated daily by the media with “new” cures, magic bullets, quick fixes, exotic foods for weight loss etc. Yet no one tells us there is a way to enhance life, to turn our health inside out, to find what is ready to shift instead of living and making decisions in fear. The disease industry has many people fear-bound, which is only feeding our BITR’s. Vibrant health in within us, when we place our energy, time and money on enhancing our life, maximizing our potential, our life expression, when we focus on taking care of ourselves, things change, we change.
For some time we may still have our BITR, our pains or other symptoms, but we just know something is different, something is changing. Here we have been seeking the silver bullet that will defeat BITR, and right under our nose, within us is the key to health.
After 10 years in practice I still tear up, still get excited and feel humbled when I see my clients have breakthroughs, even little breakthroughs. I encourage you to find a way to see the beauty, the potential and the wonder of you and turn your health challenge, your personal BITR, into a success story, and I guarantee you will find a heap more energy and enthusiasm for living and life. You may even be amazed at how your life will change for the better, who may leave your life and who may come into your life, what experiences open up for you, as you become healthier and happier.
